Jan. 27, 2015 - Miracles are REAL!

Aloha family!!
This week has been so awesome. Wait, but first things first.... Shout out to Mama Sabey... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To the best, most beautiful, lovely, and wonderful mom in the world!!!!!!!!!

This week has been full of miracles. The biggest one being... We found a new investigator in Laie!!!!! :):):) So once upon a time, we were eating dinner at the Bishop's house. One of his daughters just got married after I left this area last year, so I had never met her new husband. But serendipitously, he's  a non-member from Samoa who is now living there with her family! His name is Fernando. I think I had seen him in passing, but I didn't know he wasn't a member. So after our dinner we shared a message with the whole family, and invited him to learn more, and he said yes! It seemed like no one had ever asked him before, because he said yes after like .7 seconds. So that was exciting! We're meeting with him this week so I'll let you know how that goes next week. :)

Then I had exchanges with Sister Willardson. It was crazy having so much extra time in our area, usually we only get 30 min to an hour in our proselyting area each day, because we do language study and 12 weeks. So we got two extra hours to be in the area! We went to the very edge of our area, which is also the very edge of Laie, and went tracting. Usually tracting here doesn't work because you just run into the ward members, but this time we found some non-members! It felt good to knock on doors again. :) And I think one lady we met has serious potential to become new investigator! So we shall see!

Well I feel like I mostly tell you miracles that happen in our area.... but there are actually tons of miracles at the Visitors' Center every day. I love being a VC missionary. There is a special spirit on temple grounds that you can't find anywhere else. I love the temple, and I know that it is key to binding families together eternally. I know that we can receive personal revelation there, more clearly and powerfully than anywhere else.

Well, I love you all sooo much! Thank you for being awesome!
With lots of love<3<3<3,
Sister Sabey

PS. I bolded important things because I realized this is really long and you probably don't want/have time to read all of it.  :)

Jan 20, 2015 - Muy buenos dias!!!

Hola mi familia!!!
This week was so awesome! I don't have time to write a lot today though....so here are some highlights:
-Meeting my new companion!!! She's the best and we're pretty much best friends.... Heavenly Father definitely put us together for a reason. She is so sweet, and has such a strong testimony. I have learned so much from her already. And also it's a major plus that we always speak spanish together. Haha those spanish telenovelas (Rosalinda!!!!) really paid off!!
-I love being back in Laie 5th ward! We met with Art again (our "eternal investigator") and he really wants to be baptized. He still feels like he's not ready right now... but he is. And he'll realize that hopefully very soon. He actually told us that his goal was to get sealed to his family in the temple (because they're all members already).
-Mosiah 4:11-12, my favorite scripture.

Well as it turns out I only have time for two highlights...... but I will email you more next week I promise!!! Thank you for being the best! I love you all so much and pray for you every day.

Jan 12, 2015 - Good news, I saw a dog today!

That's not actually the good news. We have transfers this Wednesday, and last night we found out the news... Aaaaaaanddd.... I'm gonna be a mommy! I get to train a new missionary, and she's from El Salvador! (S/o to you Sister Done!!!) I'm super excited. I think she's lived in America so she speaks English, but we are going to have a great time hablando en espanol! It will definitely be a humbling experience for me because I have a lot to improve on, but I know we will have a great time and grow a lot. :)

The other great news is that we're going to be covering Laie 2nd and 5rd wards! Currently we're covering 2nd and 3rd, and out of those two 2nd is my favorite. And 5th was my greenie area, so I love it also. Heavenly Father just loves me a lot!! It's going to be a great transfer!!
In other (good) news, we've been working with a man named Carah in Laie 2nd ward, and he's been really progressing!! He's come to church the past few weeks, and his new year's resolution is to come to church every week. Also, in Laie 5th ward, just yesterday they got an "eternal investigator" (one who I worked with when I was serving in that ward) to commit to a baptismal date!! Wooo! It's genuinely a miracle. So I'm really excited to see him again, and see how he's changed since I was there early last year.

Oh, and do you remember looking up all those videos about Kuha'o Case? The blind-since-birth piano prodigy? Well he's coming to the VC to do a fireside this Sunday!! Wooooo!
Okay well I don't have a ton of time today because we went on a super beautiful HIKE that was just lovely and took up most of our day. But! Know that I love you soooo much and I'm so thankful for all of you! I love reading your emails every week, from home and from your missions!! Don't forget to read your scriptures every day and always pray, it makes a difference!!! I promise!

<3<3<3<3<3 aloha nui loa!

Jan. 5, 2015 - Fia Fia - Happy New Year!

Aloha!! Fia fia= Happy (in Tongan. :)

Well, this week was just splendid again! I love being a missionary, and I am so grateful every day for this opportunity. I love meeting new people and sharing my testimony all the time. 2015 is going to be full of miracles... I really just want to be a missionary forever. :)

Well since you asked.. I'll tell you about my New Years Eve! It was super fun... Laie Zone got to come together and have a talent show, and then watch Frozen. And since you all know how talented I am (cough cough), I wrote and sang a song! Haha just kidding, I didn't sing it alone by myself that would be ridiculous. But Sister Latu and Willardson and I did it together! We changed the words of "We are never ever ever getting back together"... or whatever that song is called.. and made it apply to missionary work in Laie. :) It's the best getting out of your comfort zone... that's definitely something I've loved doing on my mission. And that's when ALL the miracles and worthwhile experiences happen! Do something that scares you every day! Just try it, I dare you. Wonderful things will happen.

Then of course we watched Frozen, which was awesome. I'm glad I had never seen it before my mission so this could be the first time seeing it! After the movie finished, we went home and went to bed at like 9:30pm. But then I woke up at 10:30pm because our house is sandwiched between two student houses (partying, obviously) and two party houses (fireworking, obviously)... and I realized everyone else in our pad was awake too... so we just watched the ocean and the fireworks along the coast... and eventually just fell asleep doing that. It was great!

Okay well sometimes I feel like I just tell you all the fun stuff and not the spiritual stuff... but there's definitely more of the latter happening! I promise! But since I slack about telling you those things... I just want you to know that I KNOW that this Church is true. I know that following the principles of the gospel is the way we can find true peace and happiness. Even when we have trials and weaknesses and challenges, Heavenly Father has given us a way to endure and overcome. We are never alone, and we never need to feel like we are alone. Because of the Atonement, we can be forgiven, enabled, and changed. It makes me so happy that we have the choice to change... that is our whole purpose of being here and that is what will allow us to become what Heavenly Father wants us to become. I love this gospel, and I love sharing it!!! I want everyone to feel the effects of living the gospel, because it gives us real happiness. Keep on sharing your testimonies, even if it's in a small and simple way, because you never know what kind of difference it can make to someone else.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

<3, Sister Sabey

Okay PS. I SERIOUSLY LOVE EVERYTHING YOU GAVE ME FOR CHRISTMAS AND I USE IT ALL EVERY DAY!! Especially all the things that smell so good, and the water bottle, and the blanket, and the cute photo album, and the chocolate, and the almond butter, and the jump rope, and the things for the people in the ward, and and and I could go on! I just want to say thank you again! Oh and I even eat the chia seeds!! Without gagging! I know, I'm a changed woman. Thank you thank you thank you!
